Susana

Any homeowner will tell you that maintenance is an important and often time-consuming affair. Imagine, then, what is involved if you are responsible for the care of 466 homes! The enormity of the scope and the critical nature of this job is exactly why Princeton Community Housing decided to create a new position to focus on just this task. Stepping into this role as Facilities Management Coordinator is Susan Solano, an employee with five years’ experience at PCH.

Susana will be building on the knowledge she gained during her time working at Princeton Community Village as Property Management Assistant. She will translate that to a bigger scale as she takes charge of coordinating and supervising the maintenance of all our properties, which includes working with our in-house crew as well as with outside contractors when necessary. This involves doing routine upkeep as well as responding to specific needs of tenants as they arise.

While gaining a firm understanding of the mechanical side of this position is one of her goals, Susana believes communication is equally important. She noted that “I have to understand both sides (tenants and maintenance personnel) while being patient, professional, and treating all with respect.” Fortunately, Susana is already known for her ability to liaise with others, offering understanding yet clarifying limits when necessary. Her ability to speak Spanish fluently has been a plus on many levels.

Susana stated she is excited about her new position because she knows she will have the support of management as well as fellow employees. “I am so happy because we have a good team here.” She admitted there is a lot to learn and do, but Susana has one objective: “excellence in everything.” What really brings her joy, however, is “when tenants and coworkers are happy.” With Susana in her new position, there will surely be a lot of smiling faces all around.
