Since beginning his role as Property Management Assistant at Princeton Community Housing (PCH) in 2024, Matthew Boyd has often been the first face visitors are welcomed by at the PCH main office, currently located at 1000 Herrontown Road. Supporting the property managers for Griggs Farm, Princeton Rentals, Merwick Stanworth, and Hopewell Sales, he has gained a thorough understanding of PCH operations, the application process, and the broader landscape of affordable housing in Princeton. For hopeful applicants, Matt offers clear explanations of eligibility requirements and helps them navigate multiple local housing options. He prioritizes making what can be a daunting, complex process more accessible and manageable. Even in the face of high demand and limited availability of affordable housing, Matt emphasizes the organization’s commitment to inclusion and community. He clearly states, “I want people to know that they are welcome here in our community.”
Likening himself to a “utility player,” a baseball position relied upon for adaptability and broad knowledge, Matt takes on a wide range of responsibilities. His day-to-day work includes processing applications, managing annual updates, re-certifying residents as incomes fluctuate, and ensuring daily operations run smoothly so PCH can continue providing high-quality, affordable homes. He guides applicants through every step of the process, from submitting paperwork to potential move-in, and shares information about additional community resources such as emergency housing and rental assistance programs. Whether reviewing waitlist eligibility, communicating decisions, or coordinating with property managers and maintenance staff, Matt strives to bring clarity and compassion to every interaction.
Matt’s deep familiarity with Princeton stems from growing up locally and spending close to a decade working for other Princeton-based nonprofits before joining PCH. While the housing world was new to him, he quickly recognized the interconnectedness of organizations serving the community and found that many residents and applicants were already familiar faces. Over time, his role has sharpened his understanding of the essential role safe, affordable housing plays in building a strong community.
